Description

Family Development Credential™

Missouri State Portfolio Advisors' Orientation

Family Development Credential Portfolio Advisors serve as a role model for workers taking the Family Development Credentialing program (FDC).  Portfolio Advisors develop a mutually respectful, strengths-based partnership with the worker(s) that provides a solid foundation for their learning.  Portfolio advisors need to possess good verbal and written communication skills, as well as at least two of the following qualifications:

  • I have received the Family Development Credential within the last 5 years
  • I am an FDC Instructor and have received certification within the last 5 years
  • I possess a Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Service (or related) field.
  • I have worked in the Community Action/Human Service field for 4 or more years.

*NOTE: Portfolio Advisor's Manual (2015) must be available to each participant as they advise and, preferably, at this training.  However, with the short timeframe to prepare for this training, we understand it may not be possible to have this at the training and MACA will have all necessary documents available to review on November 20th.  It is the expectation that each portfolio advisor will obtain a Portfolio Advisor Manual and have access to the Empowerment Skills for Family Workers – 3rd Edition (Forest, 2015) textbook prior to advising.

Date & Time:  November 20, 2015, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (lunch will be provided at the training)

Location: Missouri Parks & Recreation Office (next door to MACA),  2018 William St.,  Jefferson City, MO 65109

Registration: Applications should be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than November 17, 2015. Online registration and payment is available, but the Statement of Commitment must be completed, signed, and returned to MACA at registrar@communityaction.org to complete registration.

Registration Fee:  $125.00 (Missouri CAA staff $100.00)

Lunch will be provided at the training.
