Description

About the Experience

The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) is an interactive, immersive experience that provides participants with a glimpse into the structural barriers faced by individuals with low incomes.  In order to most effectively utilize this tool, Missouri CAN encourages all CAPS kit licensees to invest in a Facilitator Training.

This 1-day virtual training has the benefits of an in-person training without the need for travel.  You will not experience the simulation, but you will receive high-quality training to prepare for your next in-person simulation.  When you attend the virtual training, you will be ready to facilitate successful in-person poverty simulations for your organization.  For this reason, we invite individuals who have previously experienced a Poverty Simulation and/or who have previous Poverty Simulation facilitator experience to attend this virtual event.

Our full-day event will provide you with the opportunity to learn best practices for facilitation alongside peers from your industry and across the country.  As we guide you through the simulation planning process, we will discuss the importance of setting objectives for your simulation, and you will liaise and collaborate in small groups with fellow facilitators.

In order to best achieve our outcomes, all attendees are required to complete our pre-survey.  The information collected from this survey will allow us to structure our breakout rooms in a way that enables attendees to network with others.  Please complete the pre-survey here.
