Description

Head Start & Child Welfare: Partnering to Support Children & Families in Their Communities

About the Event:

The MO Head Start Association & MO Head Start Collaboration Office, in partnership with MO Children’s Division and the interagency planning committee will host a one-day learning event focused on building a better understanding of how Head Start and Child Welfare partners can collaborate for greater outcomes for children and families. This event is designed to support an opportunity for Children’s Division, and Head Start staff to learn about the work of each other’s agencies and build relationship that will allow them to better serve children and families.

Who should attend:

This event will include participants working directly or through partnership of local Head Start/Early Head Start programs from across Missouri and state and local personnel of the Missouri Children’s Division. Key staff within Head Start Programs and County Children's Division Programs that have oversight of partnerships. This may include, not limited to: Head Start Program Directors/Assistant Directors, County Children's Division Leadership Staff, additional staff affiliated with children's division and Head Start partnerships (i.e. Family & Community Engagement Coordinators, Health & Mental Health Coordinators, ERSEA Coordinator, etc.)

Expected Outcomes:

Attendees will hear from leaders within Head Start and Missouri's Child Welfare system to learn about supports available to help children and their families. Participants will discuss benefits of partnerships between Head Start programs and Children’s Division staff and ways to foster collaborative partnerships, outreach, and education. Ultimately, this event will culminate in a plan for local Head Start and Child Welfare staff to collaborate at the local level.
